Digitizing handover process for package visibility
Designed the digital manifest system for Jio Impetus to tackle shipment visibility issues in fast fashion warehouse. The project focused on replacing manual, paper-based processes with real-time package tracking and transparent handovers. The solution streamlined package management, improved delivery partner coordination, and established operational control, reducing uncertainty in large-scale warehouse operations.

About Product
Jio Impetus aims to reduce timelines in fast fashion industry by streamlining all touch-points from design to delivery. It eliminates delays that directly impact revenue which is critical in fast fashion, where a single day’s delay can render inventory obsolete due to rapidly shifting trends.
The Context
In the current process, warehouse staff manually assemble packages for drivers using error-prone paper manifests. This reliance on physical documents and guesswork creates a significant issues.

A dedicated dashboard provides a single source of truth for all manifests. It displays real-time statuses for each manifest along with crucial metadata. This gives vendor teams full visibility and control over the entire handover lifecycle.

Warehouse staff get an up-to-date list of packages mapped to the selected delivery partner. They can generate a digital manifest removing guesswork and ensuring every handover starts with accuracy.

Flexible closure of manifest

Vendor must either add unscanned packages or remove them. The primary action prioritizes scanning completeness, while the secondary option handles exceptions. This design ensures vendor consciously address missing packages before closing the manifest.

Challenges faced

Below are the broad challenges faced throughout designing
Managing complex scanning workflows
Managing complex scanning workflows
Designing the detailed manifest screen was tricky as each AWB could contain multiple packages. The UX had to clearly separate scanned vs. unscanned packages, while ensuring all packages were scanned before closing. Balancing this complexity in a single screen required careful interaction design.

Driving adoption from paper to digital

Transitioning vendors from familiar paper manifests to a digital system was a key challenge. The UX had to feel intuitive and natural, ensuring that digital flows were faster to encourage adoption without resistance.

Creating an interface simple enough for non-technical warehouse staff and delivery partners required intuitive interaction patterns and clear language. We prioritized visual cues over text, and robust error handling to ensure confidence and reduce mistakes.
